Leasing

Leasing FAQ

What is a lease? A lease is where you pay a set rate to have time with a horse outside of lessons.

Who should lease a horse? Any student who rides in a minimum of one lesson a week with us and has the approval from their coach can apply to lease a horse.

How can I get the approval from my coach? Before you get the greenlight to lease from your coach they will want to see that you are:

  • Confident and comfortable handling your lesson horse

  • Able to tack up safely and properly with no assistance from your coach

  • A strong walk/trot rider who demonstrates good judgement

  • Someone that listens to rules and is trustworthy

How do I start? Once you have your coaches approval let Alisha know that youd like to apply to lease your lesson horse. She will let you know what day(s) and time(s) are available. If your horse has nothing open you will be put on a waitlist.

When do I come for my lease ride? You will get a specific day and time that will stay the same every week just like a lesson. If you are new to leassing you will get a time where one of the coaches are already around in case you have any questions or concerns during your ride.

How long do I ride for? Same as a lesson. Anywhere between 45 minutes to an hr. If you ride lesson some days that is fine of course.

What can I practice? Anything from your lessons within reason. Jumping is strictly prohibited.

Can I do other activities with my lease horse? Hand grazing, longing, bathing etc... Shouldn't be a problem if you're qualified, talk with your coach first.

How much is a lease? $165/month per day/week. For example if you have a lease ride on Mondays at 4:00 and Saturdays at 6:00 your fee would be $330.00/month.

What are the benefits to leasing? Riding in a lesson once a week is a great option if you are starting out, riding for exercise or riding just for fun. Just like any sport taking one lesson per week can only get you so far so if you're looking to advance your skills or compete you want to consider other options.

How do I end my lease agreement? We just require 30 days notice on the 1st of the month to end a lease.

Can I just lease a horse without lessons? No. Riders must take a minimum of one lesson per week.

Can I take my lease horse to shows? Yes. Of course! Lease riders have priority booking for out of barn shows. Ask your coach for more information on shows suitable to your riding level and goals.
